A Typical Day
American Christian School is nestled in the community of Succasunna. The school is located at 126 South Hillside Avenue. Hillside Avenue is a lovely street representative of “pride of ownership,” consistent with Succasunna and the neighboring townships.
The American Christian School campus consists of three buildings, Pre-school, Elementary, Jr. High and High School. Each day at 8:00am a caravan of cars, minivans and SUV’s follow the winding (newly re-surfaced) driveway to the appropriate building. The students eagerly exit the vehicles to receive their morning greeting, accompanied by a smile.
The students enter the classroom where they receive a second greeting. A greeting from an amazing classically trained Christian educator. The pledge of allegiance is followed by prayer and then the teaching begins. The teachers, passionate about Christ, provide balanced instruction, exalting Christ in concert with high academic standards.
After three hours of rigorous instruction, electives and physical education it’s time for a lunch break. The students have the option of bringing meals from home or choosing a hot meal from the lunch program menu. The students are provided ample time to complete their meal, clean and prepare their lunch area for the next student and it’s off to recess! Energetic activities await the students; age appropriate play is monitored by CPR-trained staff and “watch out for the soccer game!” After lunch the rigorous instruction, electives and physical education resumes.
The end of day arrives at 2:45pm for Pre-K/ Kindergarten and 3:00pm for the remaining Elementary, Jr. High and High School students. At American Christian School the usual student's eagerness to enter vehicles and exit the campus is substituted by fellowship and joyful lingering.
The ACS staff and administration is proud of the school’s warm and loving culture, refined by 45 years of service to the Northern New Jersey community.
