Faith in Action: A Week of Mission, Learning, and Purpose at ACS
At American Christian School, education is not confined to the walls of a classroom…it is lived out through service, exploration, and a deep commitment to Christ. This was beautifully evident during a recent, extraordinary week for our high school students, as each grade stepped into unique opportunities to grow in faith, leadership, and purpose.
Our 11th and 12th grade students traveled to Costa Rica for a life-changing mission trip, where they served and connected with children in local communities. Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of God’s creation, students experienced His presence in powerful ways, not only through the scenery, but through meaningful conversations and relationships. Even with language barriers, our student leaders showed compassion and creativity, forming genuine bonds through laughter, play, and the universal language of love. And, after hours of hard work doing manual labor and working with the children, our students also got to enjoy some time in nature (on land and at sea) and learned about a local coffee plantation.

Many students reflected on how clearly they saw God at work throughout the trip. Senior Nate Pastor shared, “God is never not working in your life.” His words capture the heart of the experience…God’s presence is constant, moving through every moment, every interaction, and every willing heart.
While our upperclassmen were serving internationally, our 9th and 10th graders were in Washington, D.C., walking through the history of our nation’s capital while boldly living out their faith. As they explored monuments, museums, and the foundations of our country, they were also sharing the love of Christ, recognizing that faith is meant to be lived out wherever God places us. One of the favorite stops of course being, the Museum of the Bible.

Back at home, students who remained on campus were just as impactful. Through local mission work, serving communities like Market Street Mission, baking, and meeting tangible needs, they demonstrated that you don’t have to travel far to make a difference. Their actions reflected the same heart of service and compassion seen across every ACS campus that week.

This kind of unified, multi-level engagement is rare. While many Christian schools offer mission opportunities, some even sending students abroad to places like Costa Rica or organizing service-focused weeks, it is far less common to see an entire high school mobilized at once: serving globally, learning nationally, and impacting locally, all within the same week. At ACS, this wasn’t just a trip…it was a movement.
It was an incredible week; one that stretched faith, strengthened community, and reminded us all of what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
At ACS, we don’t just talk about faith, we live it. And weeks like this make one thing clear: God is moving powerfully through our students. #myACSFAMILY
