TUITION & FINANCIAL AID

As a parent, you understand how important it is to create a safe learning environment where your child will thrive.

There are things that a Christian education can offer your child — academics taught from a biblical perspective, enrichment opportunities to learn, serve, and lead — but you might be concerned about how the cost of a private school education might affect your family’s budget or lifestyle.

At The Learning Academy, we have been developing confident students who are prepared for lives of Christian discipleship, peacemaking, and service for over 50 years. Our students feel welcomed, included, and safe as they pursue successful lives after graduation. How do we do it?

TLA students benefit from a rigorous academic program that includes 13 advanced placement courses.

Enrichment opportunities inside and outside the classroom allow students to explore an interest in visual and performing arts, business, culinary arts, agriculture, and more.

Our competitive athletics program encourages students to practice healthy sportsmanship, and has brought home 37 state championships!

An active counseling department and low student-to-counselor ratio allows TLA to be intentional about getting to know our students and how to meet their needs.

Student-initiated opportunities promote engagement and growth, creating a school culture where students thrive.

We are committed to making an excellent, Christian education accessible to families in the Piedmont of North Carolina. We also recognize that affordability is an important consideration for parents, which is why we offer variable tuition.

Affording a Learning Academy Education

As they are considering school options, so many families approach the cost of private education with one of these strong assumptions:

Assumption 1

If this is the tuition, then we can’t afford this school because we don’t earn enough.

or

Assumption 2

We shouldn’t even bother asking about financial aid because I’m sure we earn too much to qualify for any assistance.

In reality, many families with low and high incomes — and all kinds of income levels in between — do qualify for financial aid. Variable tuition is a means of helping as many families as possible afford the best education they can get for their children. We know that is truly everyone’s biggest priority, and the variable tuition system we use at The Learning Academy provides a clear, impartial, and transparent process for determining your financial aid eligibility.

Our financial aid application is easy to complete, and we’ll be able to tell you exactly what your family’s tuition costs will be. Many families are (happily!) surprised to find out that our exceptional education really is affordable for them, after all. Start your application now.

How much does it cost?

As you consider The Learning Academy, we welcome your questions about variable tuition, financial aid, payment plans, or whatever else comes to mind. Our admissions team is here to help you process this decision, so you can decide which learning environment is best for your child with confidence.

“The Learning Academy has given our daughter so many opportunities that she would not have had at another school. Just as importantly, here she has found community! TLA has been a safe place of comfort as she’s grown and discovered new interests and passions. When she enrolled in 7th grade, we were concerned about if we could afford to keep her here until graduation. With TLA’s tuition aid program, we were able to make it a possibility for our family. We can say with confidence that we made the right choice!”

Frequently Asked Questions

How does TLA determine if a family is eligible for reduced tuition?

TLA partners with FACTS, a third-party financial processor of Indexed Tuition applications for independent schools across the country. FACTS uses an “Estimated Family Contribution” (EFC) calculation that takes into account many of the factors that make up a family’s overall financial picture. Our Indexed Tuition Committee then evaluates each application in a fair, consistent, and confidential manner.

Is there a cap on available funds?

TLA has a generous Indexed Tuition budget; however, it is not unlimited. Our first round of indexing occurs in January, and from there applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Families who need help affording TLA should apply as soon as possible.

Is Indexed Tuition available for students in all grades?

Indexed Tuition is available for families with students in kindergarten through grade 12. It is not available for p16re-kindergarten students. The availability of Indexed Tuition may vary based on the entering grade level, space in a grade, number of applicants, and budgeted funds.

Could applying for Indexed Tuition diminish the chance of a student being accepted to TLA?

No. Admission applications and Indexed Tuition applications are reviewed separately, and submitting an application for Indexed Tuition has no bearing on an applicant’s admissibility.
